Member Spotlight: Natarsha Crowley on fitness, filming and f…

Team Body Project long-termers will be very familiar with member participant Natarsha Crowley (affectionately known as ‘Tarsh’) – she’s been keeping the community motivated and backing up our coaches for almost five years.

She might not be the tallest on the team, but our members know not to underestimate her. She’s one of TBP’s hardest hitting high-impact warriors. Many of you know to look to Tarsh when you want to put that little bit of extra spice into your workouts.

Tarsh is also a wonderful inspiration to busy mums everywhere – not only does she work as a part-time teacher aide while raising her two teenagers, but she also finds the time to move her body almost every day. Whether it’s walking her dog or completing a TBP workout, Tarsh is determined to stay healthy and strong into the future.

We know many of you love working out with Tarsh, so we grabbed her between workouts to talk filming, friendship and fitness.

Tarsh’s journey with Team Body Project
What motivated you to start your fitness journey with TBP?

Growing up in country Australia, I was always playing sport – namely swimming, hockey and dance. I also lived through the ’80s aerobic scene and step classes!

Alex and I met in London at the school gate as our boys were in the same year group, so I’ve known her for quite some time. A mutual friend also told me about the online workout program that Alex and Daniel had. So I first started doing these in my loungeroom, like everyone else.

I’d been looking for something easy to access over the winter period and found the TBP workouts challenging, but in a good way. I loved Daniel’s encouragement and Alex’s grace.

What’s it like to be featured in the TBP workout videos?

Never, ever would I have thought that our school gate chats would lead to this!
At first, I was a bit ‘deer in the headlights’! But as I already knew Alex and Daniel, and had been doing the workouts at home, I at least had an idea of what to expect.

The first Real Start was such a great experience. I thought, ‘Well this was a great opportunity!’ To still be part of this nearly five years later is unbelievable.

What do you love about filming the workouts?

We always have a lot of fun on set and there’s always such a good vibe between everyone. I loved that time that Kristen handed me the heavier weights, for example. I’m just working out with friends and I love that!

How do you prepare for a filming session?

I usually try and have a good breakfast on the morning of filming and drink lots of water. And I try not to do too much the afternoon before. I usually have a rest day on the following day as well, and just do a walk.

What do you enjoy most about being part of the TBP community?

It’s like you have friends all over the world and because of the social media community (and if you haven’t joined yet, you should!) you really feel like you know one another. I had the opportunity to go to Atlanta in 2019 as well and do in person workouts with other TBP members from all over the world and that was one of the most memorable highlights so far. To meet so many people in one room, all motivating each other and working out together was such an experience!

Do you have a favourite workout?

There are so many workouts I love – I think I love every new one that comes out! But my personal favourite would have to be the first Real Start program. I’m also loving the new Mish Mash 40 and the Versus workouts.

How has your fitness journey with TBP transformed your life?

In so many ways and on so many levels… I look forward to moving my body most days, whether it be walking the dog or a TBP workout. I’m more consistent with my workouts and know they’re good for my longevity, my mental health and my general wellbeing.

As long as you’re moving your body regularly, you’re doing the right thing! I love the adrenaline rush you get from exercising and being motivated by the best in the business.

I’m also probably the strongest and fittest I’ve been in my life. I also now know that strength training is just as important for my body as cardio as I get older and enter the next phase of life. I’ve stuck with TBP because of the variety there is on offer – strength training, cardio and so much more!

What advice would you give to someone just starting their TBP fitness journey?

It takes a few goes to get started and that’s OK. Keep trying different workouts until you find the style that works for you. Don’t forget that the pause button is your friend and that we all started somewhere at some time. Be on your own journey and back yourself.
